Bead International 2008 :: Exhibitions
Bead International 2008
May 23 - September 1, 2008
Since 1998, Bead International has been one of The Dairy Barn Arts Center's most noted exhibitions. This biennial, juried exhibition of contemporary beaded artwork is featured in The Dairy Barn Arts Center's Sauber Gallery during the summers of even-numbered years (opposite Quilt National). Bead International was created with the intention of displaying the beautiful art form of contemporary beaded artwork and has since become one of the premiere exhibits of its kind. Each Bead International exhibition continues to amaze and delight viewers while broadening perspectives, as it considers any pierced object to be a bead. This exhibition promotes contemporary beaded art through a showcase of new work that provides the viewer with an appreciation of the variety of techniques and innovative trends in the medium of pierced objects. This exhibition is open to and encourages both national and international entrants. For an artwork to be considered, bead(which by our definition is any pierced object)must be a significant aspect of the work. Artist awards totaling approximately $2,000 include, but are not limited to: Best of Show, Jurors Award(s), Libby Gregory Award for an Ohio Artist, and People's Choice Award.
